aquaculture job

Hello
Student in Bachelor of science diploma in technical management in aquaculture, I am currently in training period in Mauritius Island, where I set up a hatchery and work on technical improvements, in particular in term of feeding, in a tilapia farm.
After my training, in July, I would like to work in aquaculture so that I can consolidate my theoretical and practical knowledge in this field. Thanks to my trainings (a C.G.SE in biology, agronomy and animal production, a two-year post graduate diploma in aquaculture, and a Bachelor of science diploma in technical management in aquacullture), I had the opportunity to do several internships, in an abalone farm, a spirulina farm or in an observatory of marine turtles. I have not chosen to work in one production or another yet.
I am really fascinate by aquaculture and that is why I want to make it my job. I put you this message in the hope you know a job to fill and you could help me for my future.
Yours sincerely

Bonjour
Cordialement,

Fish Feed Supplement for Tilapia Nilotica

To all my fellow members,

We have a small fish farm in the Lower Zambezi, Zambia. We are not an NGO and funded this farm for the local community. The farm is totally owned by the local community and we have already had a successful harvest. As it is our intention to ensure the long term financial viability of this project for the community we are looking at ways to reduce certain costs. Our main cost is the cost of Fish Feed which in Zambia is quite exorbitant and is raised every 3 to 4 months.

We are urgently seeking advice as to which crops we can grow to supplement our fish feeding program me and in doing so reduce the costs thereof.

At present our ponds are stocked with Tilapia Nilotica but we are thinking of introducing Red Breasted Bream.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Richard Wilson

Hello everyone,

my name is Lee Cocker and I am currently working on a new NEPAD syudy looking into SSA aquaculture. The issue of aquafeeds is an important and pressing one and I would appreciate any information on

*Current feed prices (catfish and tilapia)
*Current organic and inorganic fertiliser prices
*Insights into on-farm and commercial feed production (formulations, volumes of production, number of millers, etc)especially in Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda...

It's a huge topic and a big ask, but ANY information would be very much welcomed.

If you wish you can contact me directly at lee.cocker@hotmail.co.uk

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you everyone...Lee

Hello,

My name is Edmund Adair and I am 25 years of age from England. I have had some experience in trout farming at one of the biggest trout producers in England.

I am now looking to expand my knowledge in African aquaculture. My aim is to gain as much experience as possible in order to expand my knowledge and expertise.

I am especially keen to do this in Zimbabwe or Zambia but all other countries will be considered. All I would require is my board and lodgings.

Please get in touch if you have any additional questions or would like to view my CV. Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

I am available for an immediate start.

Kind regards,

NEED HELP - How do you artificially reproduce African Catfish fingerlings?

How can I successfully produce catfish fingerlings so far I have done the following without injecting the female with hormones:

I have African catfish, 28 males and 15 females in a concrete tank that has been earthen-ed. My catfish are between 400 grams and 2.2kg.Majority are over 500 grams.

I stripped 2 females and got a good number of yellow-ish eggs in a bowl. I then filled the bowl with water to the level of the eggs.

There after I killed 2 males and cut their milt into small pieces in a separate dry bowl. I then poured the milt extract into the bowl with eggs. I stirred for 60 secs then I put the eggs in a 50 litre bucket. I used a temperature rod in the bucket to maintain the water at 28 degrees Celsius for 20 to 22 hours. IT DID NOT SUCCEED, THE EGGS TURNED GREEN.

Is it aerating lacking? (I have aerators)
or
should I not put the mixture of eggs and milt in water first?

Can someone please help!
