May 2008 Update Sarnissa News

Stakeholder database + Aquaculture Compendium
The project continues to develop its stakeholder database of contacts. By the end of May there are over 900 individuals related to African Aquaculture on the database from across Africa and internationally.
Access will be given for a limited period (initially 3 months) to each and everyone of these individuals to the online Aquaculture Compendium http://www.cabicompendium.org/ac/home.asp.
We will also be asking all these stakeholders to contribute existing material related to African aquaculture to the AC, whilst also selecting individual stakeholders to contribute new material in specific topic areas in the form of case studies and datasheets.
Anyone who wishes to be included in the Stakeholder list should contact wl2@stir.ac.uk with their contact details and area(s) of specialisation.

Website
In May 3 new discussion fora were set up on the project website - One for partners only correspondence and the other two General African Aquaculture Fora available (one french one english) to all those who have registered on the site. These discussion fora are a means of sharing information and also putting people in contact with each ther across borders and languages.
Also a new page is available offering links to existing aquaculture videos on the internet. Please feel welcome to send in any other aquaculture based video links you have to wl2@stir.ac.uk and we can include on this page.

World Aquaculture Society (WAS) Meeting Busan Korea
Dr David Little gave a presentation introducing the Sarnissa project at the African section of the WAS meeting in Busan, Korea - which can be viewed on this website in the African aquaculture discussion group as an attachment. Also present was project partner Dr Ram Bhujel from the Asian Institute of Technology

Call for project stakeholders

posted by admin on Fri 18 of Apr, 2008 [17:01 UTC]
Dear all,
this is a blog containing regular up to date information about the Sarnissa project. We now have over 600 project stakeholders in our database from across a range of African countries and further afield internationally. These individuals also range across many disciplines, and sectors both English and French speaking related to sub Saharan African aquaculture development.

If you wish to be added to this stakeholder list please contact the project co-ordinators (Will Leschen) on wl2@stir.ac.uk for further information on the project.

It would be helpful if you can include some details about your background and interest(s) related to sub saharan African aquaculture development.

Please remember we are not just looking for academic researchers but also individuals from other related commercial, govt, NGO sectors - also those involved in related disciplines - socio-economics, marketing, health, food safety and certification, extension, training, hydrology, irrigation etc

Best wishes and look forward to hearing from you
